After Action Report: Day 1 - A disastrous beginning

This was a black day for our company. Today we lost our brave Tylan.

After the dire letter was received, we quickly assembled a company and rode forth to save these Kingsfell farmers from raider's attacks. We arrived at Trestelbridge without incident after a long ride, expecting to rest and spend the night there before pressing on next morning.

As the men roamed around the town, they met a sort of preacher, a crazed woman from some queer cult, the Chosen Ones or something… somehow things escalated quickly and as our men tried to seize this woman, they were attacked by a hidden bodyguard who managed to wound young Kissare before being subdued. In the chaos of the fight, Tylan ended up slitting the preacher's throat and leaving the scene along Blince. When Wyndslaw managed to settle things a bit we had two dead cultist lying in the floor, one of ours badly wounded and Tylan and Blince missing. Caravaggio judged for the better to retreat at once to the horses and leave the town before facing the Cult's reprisal or the local's justice, after all we had just killed two persons in the middle of the village.. Sadly, little we knew from this new enemy, they must be far more organized than we expected, they managed to seize and kill Tylan. Blince managed to escape and came back with the black news, he looked stricken and pale, a broken man, he left the company and returned to Bree to inform his family. The news sunk the company's morale we never expected such a serious blow so early and so close to home. Meanwhile Belagor managed to patch up Kissare's wounds, that ended up being nothing serious.

We crossed the Trestelbridge with our morale low and waning discipline. We made camp up the Greenway by the Fields of Fornost, our company was scattered during this dreadful march and this prevented us from taking immediate action against Tylan's killers, we had to regroup, rest and wait for the stragglers, we are now in enemy country, fighting an enemy we barely know.

During the night, Wyndslaw dispatched young Gardella back to Bree, I don't know his intend in doing so but he seemed stressed enough to have me arguing his every command. Ivlathdur went AWOL to look for Blince. Also, late at night a young man called Linfield arrived at camp, he was clad in red but Charlithel thinks there's no "stain" of the cult on him but that doesn't mean we are to trust in this lad on a whim, he remains with us under close "observation".

Charlithel seemed acquainted with this Cult people, very bad people she says. I will have a long talk with her in the morning, we need to know as much as we can about our enemy.

We are now into hostile territory, facing an organized enemy of whom we know little, having yet to face the raider's threat, with half our original numbers and low morale. I have sent a request to the Estate for reinforcements, but I don't know if Evallin will be in shape to deal with it once she gets Blince's news. Our odds seem slim at best, but we are not beaten yet, we press on and we will accomplish our objective , people lives depend on us, we will prevail or die trying.
