My kinsister Ivyvine stands no taller than an elven child, yet she is by all account in possession of the best in all virtues of a Hobbit-lass. Miss Ivyvine, though vertically challenged, did manage in almost the instant upon their meeting, to charm and elicit the most vociferous purrs and kittenlike behaviors from my feline companion Pawlene! I smile inwardly to imagine what a stranger might think upon seeing such an event unfold. The saber-cat with canine teeth and claws able to slash through the armor of any orc or goblin within the wretched depths of Moria and my kinsister Ivyvine, unable to see over the shoulder of Pawlene yet the saber-cat placidly purrs loudly and knows that Miss Ivyvine is her friend and deserving of her attentions. She senses the purity of Ivy's heart I do believe, as the creatures dwelling in Middle Earth each sense the truth of our intentions and feelings towards each of them and as my beloved companion Pawlene sought out the affections and attention of the diminutive Ivyvine just as she had done with Lady Vivienwyne, the lessons of the wisdom and perceptions of the creatures that we have taken oath not to harm does once again return tenfold upon us, and our understanding of them and respect for them continues to deepen and grow as we continue our journeys.......
