Iridith walked into her father's house looking around she called out for him "Da? Are you home?" she peeked into Eom's room to see her little brother grunting and wriggling in his cot, she smiled to herself.
"Aye, Iri I'm in here" he called back from the bedroom, which she walked across the room to and walked in. She was quickly greeted by her father wrapping his arms around her into and pulling her into a hug. "Happy nameday my little princess" he smiled and kissed the top of her head as he said so.
"Thank you Da" she hugged him back and snuggled into him but then her eyes were covered and she gasped. "Da?!"
"It's alright! I've got a surprise for you but you can't see it yet!" he chuckled and guided her back into the main room. "First I have to sort it and then you can see it!" when he uncovered her eyes she was standing facing the fire with her back to the bedroom which he quickly returned to "Now, no peeking. You hear?"
"Aye! I hear" she giggled at her father who was quite excited about something.
"Now before I show you, you have to promise you won't cry or anything. I don't want to be set off and you must promise to treat this well!" There was a short silence as if Bryse was thinking "It holds much meaning to us both"
"Aye, I promise" Iri frowned a little wondering what her father had got her.
"Turn around" her heart dropped out of her chest when she turned and saw a beautiful white lace dress. "I know you aren't even engaged yet but I will explain..."
"I-it's beautiful" she reached out to touch it.
"It was the dress your mother wore when me and her were wed" he smiles sadly at her "It's the only thing I have of hers and I want you to have it." Iridith blinked at her father almost in disbelief.
"I-it was mothers?"
"Aye, it was. You seen a similar size to her, if not I can try to change it a little" he offers it to her.
"D-da, I don't kno-.." he raised a hand to stop her
"Don't say anything, just try it on..." Iri quickly nodded at her fathers words taking the dress and going to the bedroom to change. The dress fit her perfectly, she walked out of the bedroom to show Bryse who smiled. "You look amazing, just like your mother did in that dress" he chuckled a little. Iri ran over to her father hugging him tightly.
"Thank you daddy. It's the best present ever"
