The Boar Pit

Today was a good day for me, it was finally time to set to work, and how better than to gain the favor of the masses with a good old fashioned fight ring? Setting up the event would be easy enough, Hawther and Eddrick were brought in as marshals, so keeping order with those that turned up wouldn't be a problem, and letting people know was just a case of spreading a few well placed rumors, and there you have it, one fighting ring all set up.

In the end it was a small gathering of participants, but for the first event, this was expected, and probably just as well, after all we don't want to attract the attention of the watch just yet. We gathered in the Oldstone Ruins in Breetown. It seemed an appropriate place to hold the event, and it was nicely out of the way as well.

The first fight of the day was Hesagor against Eddrick. It was decided that Eddrick would fight first to drum the others into a mood where they would take part. As for Hesagor I've spoken with him a few times before, a violent man who enjoy his fights. During the fight it looked certain that he would win, Eddrick was pinned to the ground and was being pummeled by Hesagor, only for Eddrick to break free of the mans grip and break his bloody arm! Obviously the fight was over, but Eddrick didn't seem pleased with his victory. I decided to leave talking to him for a later date. The was no healer there, so Hesagor had to look after him self, cradling a broken arm, I doubted that he'd be fighting again today.

Next was too strangers I didn't know. Both women, I'd already figured which would win. A strange looking woman called Juhryhu, covered in scars from combat with what looked like wild animals, and to be honest she looked like she belonged with them. She question rules on death and dismemberment, both of which I wanted to avoid on the first run of the boar pit. As the fight started both showed true grit, but this crazy one defiantly had more experience than the other, a dark haired girl. She seemed to spend most fo the fight on the floor being tortured by the crazy one. However, she had a massive stroke of luck as she tripped the lunatic. She smacked her head on the cobbles and that was the end of the fight. Neither had any lasting damage. I later found the winners name to be Cerriel.

Next was what I hoped would be an interesting fight. [Oddisa]], a woman I had worked with in the past and had proven herself to be competent in battle. The other was another stranger who'd been betting on previous fights who went by the name of Tarthanir. The fight was indeed entertaining to watch, both struggled to get a hold on the other, and traded blow for blow for the most part. Both proved themselves to be fast and skilled, but in the end, it was Tarthanir who managed to land the final blow and bring Oddisa to the floor.

I expected this to be about the end of the fighting, but I was mistaken. The fool Hesagor with his broken arm requested that he fight again. I laughed and told him if he could find someone willing to then could. I cared little for whatever injuries he intended to have inflicted on his person, and doubted anyone would want to fight anyway. I was wrong again. That animal Juhryhu took up the challenge. It seemed she was still blood thirsty after her last fight. Both of them fought like animals, the Juhryhu clawing at Hesagor's face while he tried to crack her skull on the cobbles below. Despite the broken arm, I was amazed to see that he started to get the upper hand on her. This started to become a problem however when she fell unconscious from the beating, but Hesagor didn't let up. Hoping to avoid a death, I had to literally throw him from the ring to make him stop. Despite the brutal beating Juhryhu had taken, she was on her feet in a few seconds, and simply walked away, blood dripping from her face.

The others left shortly after, and I must say that this first event was a definite success. The Network will start to spread it's name, and gain more support from teh likes fo these people. I reckon more events like this will have to be run, and more success will follow, of this I'm sure.
