Dancing lights

A sight I have seen a thousand times, yet it always amazes me.
Lights as far as the eyes can see, dancing every onwards upon the star filled blanked of blackness. The moon behind it like a guide....
When I was young my father used to tell me about them. He spoke of my ancestors and how they looked down at us from whatever life follows after this one. ''The light'' He said, ''It is them watching us. Protecting us''.
It always calmed my sleepless nights back then.
And it somewhat still does....
