Upon one early summer morning, Morenwenna took a step outdoors from her enclosed, and dim halls. She looked all around every nook and cranny; the sun gleaming, the rustling of fauna, the sparkling water of the fountain and the birds singing in perfect harmony. Morenwenna proceeded to take a further step, only to feel the texture of thick paper and a sort of steel object on her barefoot. Puzzled, she lifted her foot to find a letter.
Twist. Pile. Fasten. It was simple, putting her hair back into the bun she always wore. At least, it was supposed to be simple. Most times, Daphne could put her long hair up while walking even! But not so, this night.
It had now been a few months since Daphne had arrived at the home of her mother's blood relatives, and she was becoming increasingly homesick. Her aunt Berarna knocked gently and entered her room as she was packing her belongings.
"Daph, what are you doing?" She crossed her arms and frowned at her niece, who was kneeling on the floor at the moment. "You're not leaving now?"
A hurriedly scribbled letter, folded unevenly and rumpled. It is roughly tied with a blue ribbon and the writing is barely legible it is so shaky.
To Cardanith, residing in Imladris
Hir Cardanith,
It grieves me to have to write to you. You do not know me, but your friend Amathlan is very dear to me. I know not if this will reach you, nor if you care to hear my words, but I must speak to you.
An address is written in exquisite Sindarin, then again in Westron. It is likely in case the letter drops from the sky, as the parchment is rolled and tied with string to be sent by falcon.
I hope this letter finds you well in your travels. The sons of Hir Elrond have come back to Imladris recently and given word that you had not sailed. We hope that this decision does not bear on your mind to heavily, as we know you had wished leave these shores. Even so, the lord is grateful that you have chosen to remain.
The letter is enclosed in an envelope hastily folded, and slightly bent from where the bearer had tucked it away before its delivery to its recipient. The seal, however, a wax seal of gold color with the inlay of a swan. It was precisely pressed on, careful deliberate application taken in how it was applied to the envelope. The recipient's name was scrawled on the back with a flourished but hurried motion of handwriting.
