The Shire

Journal #6 - Farewell to the Shire

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Diary

Well, we are leaving the Shire behind now and are on our way back towards Bree. Everybody's singing as we ride now - we are all glad to be on our way home.

Goblins in the woods

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

Brenwise relieved the discomfort in his legs by subtly adjusting his position, he was eager not to give away his hiding place that he had been occupying for the past four hours. Brenwise was used to these long periods of inactivity, he had on many occasions sat up all night amongst the boughs of a tree or up to his neck in a ditch just waiting for his quarry to arrive. On those occasions it had usually been a wolf or bear that had overcome its wariness and started to move closer and closer to inhabited farm buildings of villages.

Diary entry #4: A declaration of intentions!

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Diary
I was thinking about some of the latest events, and that’s what I came up with.
Enough, now I have to state something: I am not any kind of a Took. I am not crazy about any adventures and rushing somewhere because of a sudden urge to do so. “You must be related somehow to Tooks, huh?” the Shire-hobbits often ask me. NO. I am not a Took, you see. I don’t even know any of them.

Diary entry #3: A merry evening

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Diary
I met Dumpo, my friend, when treating some wood. He came to use the workbench for his tailoring needs, I suppose.
I was so deep in work that wasn’t noticing him for a minute or even more. But then he was pleased to see I recognised him. And before I could bat an eyelid he presented me some new clothes he just made. I was so surprised!
“I can make more for you in a second,” he said. “I just need to catch up on everything real quick!”

Diary entry #2: A kind of elvish art

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Diary
On my way to Needlehole, bypassing the road (who needs roads, after all) and thus splashing through the very bog I spotted a strange creature. Not too strange—two arms, two legs, one head; hobbit-like one could say, even man-like, since it was much taller than me. I carefully approached and started examining.
A stranger with a bow. The arrows swishing one by one into…goodness! I have never seen such huge slugs in my life! Disgusting things! What in Middle-earth except spiders could be worse…

Diary entry #1: Coneys, leather, and a new friend

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Diary
The Delving Fields are quite and peaceful. Sometimes I enjoy walking there and observing how nature lives—all these little animals and other things…
But something was wrong this time. My first thought was that these naughty lads were up to throwing stones at coneys again. And indeed, I noticed a silhouette of a hobbit in the distance chasing after something. A coney maybe?

Proper yet stalwart Bounder Frendo and his adventurous cousin Bria sit atop the Hill with their new friend, a traveller who goes by the name Nia.

Claiming to be from Gondor and trying to return as a way to get as far from Bree-land and the Blackwolds as she possibly could, ex-brigand Ashenne Blackrush - a skilled liar yet not knowledgeable enough about the world to travel - created the identity of Nia.
